THE BEST ART EVER!

PORTFOLIO

The Best Art Ever! is an activist political art project aimed at resisting the toxic orange agenda. This project is a fundraiser for the organizations on the front line doing the hard work of the resistance. The real intention of this project is to use art as a form of political resistance by examining this extraordinarily absurd and dangerous regime and rolling it up in a PR campaign to raise millions for the resistance. Please buy some work and fund the rebel alliance.

The text is fake gold lettering in a field of ground up Cheetos cheese puffs mixed with acrylic glazing. The text of the small works are direct quotes. The showpiece The Best Art! I Guarantee It! appropriates and reconfigures the orange one's language in the context of art to underscore the absurdity of the orange one's assertions.

Original Artworks will be transacted in a special arrangement between the buyer, the artist and the 501c3 organization(s) mutually agreed on between the buyer and the artist. The buyer of each original will be able to claim at 99% to 90% as a charitable tax deduction. Donations may be stock or cash. Please contact me for details.

SUSPICIOUS PRIVACY

PORTFOLIO

Suspicious Privacy is an installation concept initially set up in a Wynwood warehouse during Miami Art Week in Dec. 2014. Suspicious Privacy is an interactive art installation which explores contemporary privacy and surveillance issues through the examination ofdocuments outlining various protocols of government surveillance practices, provocative interactive sculpture, active surveillance technology and real time internet activity. The installation incorporates large scale face mounted photographic works, light box wall sculptures, interactive sculptural objects, active video and auditory surveillance of visitors (both on site and online), an electronic viewing area with two video walls, as well as a live streaming website and an onsite iPad kiosk to explore the website. The website not only presents images of the installation, but also displays all surveillance images generated of the visitors as well as a offers print products of all surveillance images generated in the installation. This represents the commodification of personal data gathering practices and our increasing loss of control in the matter. The purpose of the installation is to turn the remote and cerebral topics of surveillance and data gathering into an emotionally visceral experience for the viewer as the scope of the project unfolds and reveals the unexpected appropriation of their image through their participation.

THE EQUATION

PROPOSAL

The Equation is an installation concept designed to insert both the viewer and the place into the equation of politics and money. It is easy to complain of money in politics without remembering our own involvement in the formula. The Equation reflects on the changing nature of this formula, which is altered by both the audience and the location. These variables change the meaning of the work, so this installation takes on different meanings depending on the circumstances of the viewing experience.

This image represents the test piece of the concept. The installation is to comprised of enlarged images of presidential and founding father figures derived from our currency presented on large 6+ foot mirrors installed in a single space creating a confusing hall of mirrors effect with infinite reflections, metaphorically as well as visually.

THROUGH THE BARREL

PROPOSAL

Through the Barrel is an installation concept currently being engineered and budgeted. The installation is made of a large sculptural chamber that references a section of a gun barrel. The chamber is designed to contain a storm suspended cremation ash onto which images and video of people who have died of gun violence are projected. All of the visual imagery and video as well as the cremation ash will be donated by people who have lost loved ones to gun violence making the project an opt-in community effort. The chamber will be surrounded by black panels with white paint markers similar to blackboards to encourage visitors to respond to the installation by drawing or writing their reaction into the installation. This involvement underscores the purpose of the installation, which is to provide a contemplative space for a community to process the horror of a mass shooting and for everyone regardless of your position on gun politics to remember the human cost of gun violence and the increasing regularity of its appearance in our cultural landscape. My goal is to raise a pool of funds to allow the installation to be shipped and installed for free in communities that have experienced a mass shooting where an invitation and a venue are provided. The following are concept renderings of the chamber that allows us to look at the human cost of the unencumbered gun culture which implies that solutions can always be found through the barrel of the gun.
